Access Solutions Scaffolding at The Glenturret Distillery

At Access Solutions Scaffolding, we were privileged to be part of the recent refurbishment project at The Glenturret Distillery, Scotland's oldest working distillery, founded back in 1763. The distillery had just completed a full internal and external refurbishment when an unexpected challenge arose - water ingress on the newly renovated Bar and Whiskey Tour roof.

Our team was tasked with providing a temporary roof solution for the triangular-shaped building, allowing the replacement of the flat roof membrane without disrupting the daily operations of the distillery tours and the prestigious Glenturret Lalique Restaurant, which boasts a Michelin star.

After careful planning and consideration, we implemented a buttressed Cuplok independent scaffold, utilising over 30 tons of kentledge using IBC water tanks. The scaffold was ingeniously constructed to cover one area by saddling an existing roof and bridging 15 meters over the restaurant's smoking area. The structure was meticulously finished with UBIX aluminum beams and wrapped in protective plastic shrinkwrap.

Despite the intricacy of the project, our dedicated team successfully completed the task over a period of approximately 9 weeks, with 6 weeks dedicated solely to the erection and dismantling of the scaffolding. Throughout the project, we ensured minimal disruption to the distillery's operations, maintaining the high standards expected at such a prestigious location.

At Access Solutions Scaffolding, we take pride in overcoming challenges with innovative solutions while prioritising the smooth running of our customer's day-to-day activities. We are delighted to have played a part in preserving the legacy of The Glenturret Distillery and look forward to continuing to provide top-quality scaffolding solutions for future projects.

The Glenturret Distillery
Colin Hart, Operations Manager

Access Solutions Scaffolding did a fantastic job on a very technical scaffolding and encapsulation of part of the Glenturret Distillery. From the start, the technical design of this complex project was done with professionalism and excellent knowledge. Onsite, the team were again professional and allowed us to continue to provide our guests with the experience they expect at the Glenturret Lalique Restaurant and the Distillery. The encapsulation was watertight throughout the 9-week project and allowed us to replace the flat roof membrane without any water damage to the recently refurbished building.
