About

We were contracted to design and scaffold the north and south piers of this 800m steel and concrete bridge, built to span over the River Tay, carrying the M90 motorway to the North of Scotland. Each scaffold was built in Cuplok and stood between 20m and 25m high, with a stair access, allowing access to the concrete repairs. The North Pier was particularly challenging due to it’s close proximity with a live Railway line and 3ton weight restricted bridge.

Being fully RISQS accredited and having previous experience on the Railways, we overcame this by delivering all the material in ¼ ton stillages and running to and from the compound with a counterweight forklift. The works were completed with an 8 week period and the site is back under the control of Bear Scotland.

A word from the client
CRL
Gary Dunlop, Contracts Manager

CRL appointed A/S/S to design and erect 2no scaffold access towers to Piers 6 & 7 of Friarton Bridge Perth.

A/S/S delivered a full design within 2-3 weeks of being appointed and were able to erect each tower within their allocated programme slot. Due to variable on-site conditions, some adjustments had to be made during each build, but these changes were quickly addressed, and new drawings were issued detailing the alterations.

All aspects of A/S/S contribution to the project were carried out in a safe, professional manner and CRL will certainly be engaging with them for future projects.
